Common questions about Printer Finder

Quick answers for store owners and staff, with links to setup and detailed workflows.

Getting started

What does Printer Finder search?

It searches your printer and copier catalog by type, native manufacturer/brand, color capability and optional specifications. It complements a separate ink-and-toner compatibility finder; it does not create cartridge compatibility data.

Does it need the Allied theme or Seven Spikes?

The dedicated /printer-finder page works independently with a compatible theme. Allied’s two-tab homepage needs its matching theme integration. Other homepage placements need a supported widget zone.

Does Printer Finder require eStoreware Core?

Printer Finder’s standalone package does not declare a Core dependency. Social Marketing and other plugins can have their own Core requirements. Use the package and requirements for your installed nopCommerce version.

Where do I configure the search?

Open Configure for the installed Printer Finder plugin, or its entry under Configuration → Widgets. Choose the store, category, type/color fields and optional specifications. Follow the setup steps.

Filters and results

Why is a filter or brand missing?

Choices come from eligible products in the selected category. Check manufacturer assignments, specification mappings, Allow filtering, publication, access and stock. Broaden earlier choices to see more available values.

Why did a selection reset to Any?

In 1.03, later choices depend on the selections above them. An incompatible combination resets the affected later choice to Any with an explanation. Compatible choices remain.

Why is a product missing?

The finder respects store/customer access, category rules, visibility, availability dates and stock. Inventory-tracked products need positive available stock; zero-stock backorders are excluded. A missing specification only matters when a shopper explicitly filters by that specification.

Why is the dedicated page or homepage finder missing?

Check that the plugin is installed/enabled and an accessible published category is selected for the correct store. For a homepage placement, also check widget activation, the selected zone and any required theme integration. Read troubleshooting guidance.
